CUMBERLAND, MD - The Embassy Theatre and Stephanie Micheals will team up to host the 9th Annual Queen of Queen City Pageant 2017 on Saturday, Oct 8.
This annual drag show pageant began in 2007, and Saturday's show begins at 9 pm. The 9th annual pageant will feature the reigning Queen of Queen City, Miss Anastasia Beaverhausen, who will crown the winner at the end of the evening.
"The Lavender Dollies are happy to be back at the Embassy," states Ms. Micheals. "The evening promises lots of fun for everyone, and the PRIDE costumes will be just gorgeous!"
According to Ms. Micheals, applications to enter the drag pageant are available at the Embassy, and entry is limited to the first ten applicants.
The contestants will begin the evening with 1,500 points. They will compete in three categories: 1) costume (PRIDE colors); 2) a 5-minute talent presentation; 3) a 'not-your-usual' type of question and answer segment. The contestants are scored by a panel of judges, with points deducted per category based on score sheets. The contestant with the highest score will be crowned Miss Queen of Queen City 2017.
Al Feldstein, local historian and go-to master of ceremonies, will be on hand during the evening to present an interesting description of why Cumberland is known as the "Queen City."
Admission is $10 for adults; all attendees must show ID upon admission and each will receive wrist bracelets. A full cash bar is available one hour prior to the show, as well as during the show.
