CUMBERLAND, MD - Embassy Theatre, 49 Baltimore Street, will be celebrating Downtown Cumberland 's "Home For The Holidays" event with a showing of two Christmas movies next Saturday, December 10.

12:00 pm - "A Christmas Carol" (1935 -  vintage version, which was the first of Dicken's "A Christmas Carol" with sound).

2:00 pm - "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" (1964 - the Martians kidnap Santa Claus because there is nobody on Mars to give their children presents).

Admission is free, although there is a suggested donation of $2 per person. Complimentary hot chocolate and homemade treats will be available for all those making a donation.

In addition to the afternoon movies, Embassy will showcase "The Eight: Reindeer Monologues", an adults-only comedy. The show starts at 8 pm, and cost for adults is $16 and $14 for seniors.

"Embassy has teamed up with The Crabby Pig for the dinner/theatre package, and owners Terry and Susan Crawford have created terrific menu selections that we can offer our patrons," states public relations director Trish Morgan. The package includes dinner, dessert and gratuity, the show, autographed playbills and reserved seating. Cost for a couple is $75, and a single package is $40.

Call (240) 362-7183 to make reservations for the package or just the show.

"Embassy is excited about Downtown's 'Home for the Holidays' event, and pleased to include our historic theatre in the festivities," adds executive director Jerard Puckett.

Embassy productions and activities are sponsored in part by the Allegany County Arts Council and the City of Cumberland.
