CUMBERLAND, MD - The Embassy Theatre and Stephanie Micheals will team up to host the 9th Annual Queen of Queen City Pageant 2017 on Saturday, Oct 8.

This annual drag show pageant began in 2007, and Saturday's show begins at 9 pm.  The 9th annual pageant will feature the reigning Queen of Queen City,  Miss Anastasia Beaverhausen, who will crown the winner at the end of the evening.

"The Lavender Dollies are happy to be back at the Embassy," states Ms. Micheals. "The evening promises lots of fun for everyone, and the PRIDE costumes will be just gorgeous!"

According to Ms. Micheals, applications to enter the drag pageant are available at the Embassy, and entry is limited to the first ten applicants.

Frostburg State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will once again present something for everyone during its 2016-17 season lineup – an adventure tale, a beloved children’s fantasy, a Christmas holiday ghost story, a Civil War drama, an 18th-century British comedy and two student dance concerts with original choreography.

Red, White and Bluegrass will be held on the BB&T Stage at Canal Place on Saturday, September 10, at 8 pm and will feature local band Grand Ole’ Ditch.

 

grandoleditchGrand Ole' Ditch began as a home-brewed bluegrass band, deriving their name from an important piece of Western Maryland history: Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. The Canal, nicknamed the Grand Old Ditch, carried coal from the Allegheny Mountains to the East Coast during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Bluegrass told the story of the people of this era, and was an essential part of their culture.
