Honey Island Swamp BandHoney Island Swamp Band from New Orleans will take the BB&T Stage at Canal Place on Saturday, July 23, at 8 pm for a free concert as part of Cumberland Comes Alive. The band’s music has been described as Blues, Southern rock boogie, Appalachian music, and New Orleans swamp funk.  

Great music begins with great songs, and great songs are what the Honey Island Swamp Band is all about. The band came together when Aaron Wilkinson (acoustic guitar, mandolin, vocals) and Chris Mulé (electric guitar, vocals) were marooned in San Francisco after the levee breaches following Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. flashbacks The Cumberland Comes Alive concert series and First Peoples Community Federal Credit Union presents ‘The Flashbacks’ to Bands on the Bricks on Friday evening, July 22. The band will be performing at the Historic City Center Stage at the corner of Liberty & Baltimore Streets at 6:30 pm. The performance is free of charge, but seating is limited, so don’t forget your folding lawn chair. 

The Flashbacks perform an eclectic mix of Oldies: Classics, Rock, and Vintage Favorites from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. Their playlist covers a wide variety of styles from masters like Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Smokey Robinson, The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, Elvis, and Patsy Cline. Wills Mountain Festival The fifth annual Wills Mountain Festival will be held August 5, 6, and 7, 2016 at Fort Royale Farm in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. The mid-summer gathering is a family-friendly music festival celebrating nature and the arts, while fostering a sense of friendship and community.

The festival features numerous activities for visitors of all ages, including arts and crafts for children, nature walks, drumming workshops, and live art exhibitions. There are artisan crafts, local foods, and a band competition on Saturdaymorning where you may discover your next favorite musicians. The Embassy Theatre, a renovated Art Deco movie theatre built in 1931, and located on the Downtown Cumberland Mall at 49 Baltimore Street, will continue to host Open Mic Nights on Sunday evenings, 6-10 pm.

Those interested in performing are asked to sign up for a time slot upon arrival. There is no cover charge, and theatre cafe manager Trish Jankey will have the full cash bar open for business.

The Embassy provides three vocal mics, two music stands, guitar amplifier, drum kit, bass guitar and acoustic guitar, if needed.

This Saturday, July 16, the Embassy Theatre will be showcasing Nine Fathoms Deep, with Chester Dabrowski, and accompanied by the Illumiknights. Doors open at 7 pm, with the show kicking off at 8 pm.

Equal parts symphony and thrash, Nine Fathoms Deep hails from western Maryland, and has been working tirelessly to bring music that the area didn't know it needed so badly, according to a spokesman for the group.

This five man group brings a new sound to the local metal scene that has been described as "darkly theatrical" and "the essence of industrial, rejuvenated." Each member pulls from a wide variety of influences, from early power metal to progressive - coming together in a performance that combines punishing sound with dark storytelling.
