(On Monday, January 3, 2011, John Bambacus sent the following request to Arthur Bond, Mayor, City of Frostburg and to John Kirby, Frostburg Ciy Administrator regarding the news that the City of Frostburg sold water to Samson Resources for the purpose of hydrofracting at a drilling site. This letter was released to appindie by John Bambacus for publication. We will keep our readers informed of any response forthcoming from Frostburg City officials.)
Â
Mr. Mayor and John,
1. Did any of the water sold to Samson Resources for hydrofracturing just outside of the City's watershed find its way into streams and tributaries flowing back into Piney?
2. Was the Piney Watershed tested prior to selling the water to Samson, and has it been tested afterward to insure that no toxic metals orradioactive pollutants entered the Savage River Watershed?
3. Does the City plan to sell any additional drinking water/raw water to any other hydrofracturing company?
4. Are there any gas wells being drilled or planning to be drilled within 5 miles in any direction of the City's watershed boundaries?
