The On the EDGE series at Frostburg State University will present New York-based actress and playwright Qurrat Ann Kadwani in “They Call Me Q” on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 8:15 p.m. in the Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall of FSU’s Lane University Center. The performance features informal table seating, comfortable couch and armchair seating, and food and beverage options.

This one-woman play follows the story of a girl from Bombay growing up in the Bronx who gracefully seeks balance between cultural pressures and wanting acceptance into American culture. Along the journey, Kadwani effortlessly transforms into 13 characters that have shaped her life: her parents, Caucasian teachers, Indian and African-American friends, and Puerto Rican classmates. Laden with heart and abundant humor, “They Call Me Q” speaks to the universal search for identity experienced by immigrants of all nationalities.
